If you don’t have a physical on file with the school, please get one before tryouts. You will not be permitted to tryout without one.

The open practices are not required, but if you would like to bowl on the Hilliard Darby HS Bowling team you need to be there for at least 1 of the tryout days (with possible exceptions). I would prefer that you be there for both tryout days, especially if you are new to the bowling team.
Last year I kept 14 boys and had about 10 girls come out for the team (no cuts). If more than 14-15 boys or girls come out for the team I will make cuts. I like to be able to get everyone into matches, either Varsity or JV, and keeping more than 14-15 of each (boys & girls)makes that difficult. About half will be Varsity and half will be JV. Neither team is set in stone. If a student who starts on the JV is bowling well, I will do my best to move them up to Varsity – if there seems to be a spot available. Likewise, if a Varsity bowler is struggling, I will do my best to help them through struggles, but may move them down to JV.
After the November 6th tryout, I will e-mail a list of bowlers that have made the 2012-13 teams to the Athletic Department secretary and ask her to post it either in the office or just outside the office. Please check the list sometime on November 7th or 8th.
The bowling team does NOT pay Darby’s $100 pay-to-play, but there is a cost involved. The cost in the past have run about $120 and cover lane fees, conference fees and team shirts/uniforms.
That should cover most things – I will cover other things, such as pictures and future practices once the teams are decided. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me at email@example.com.
