Season Information

The Darby Competition Team is a Varsity winter sport open to grades 9-12. This is the only sport you can participate in while being on another winter sports team (such as basketball cheerleading or gymnastics) provided your schedule permits it. Please know that if you are on competition and another winter team, you will be expected to attend all practices and events for both teams. If you cheer on an All Star team, please carefully review the schedules and be sure you can commit to our team before trying out. You must always put our practices, competitions, etc. first and will be dismissed from the team as a consequence.

Cheerleading is a very large time commitment! We will attend 5-6 competitions and will practice 3-5 times a week. We have included a tentative schedule for the season. If you already know that you have conflicts with this schedule that you cannot break or work around, you may want to reconsider trying out.

There are financial demands that parents/guardians will be responsible for if their child makes the team. There is a $65 Pay-To-Play fee that is due once per winter season. If you are on another winter sports team plus competition, you only have to pay the fee once, not for each team. The school supplies the uniform and warm-ups, but the cheerleader is responsible for purchasing matching socks, shoes, hair bow, lollies, midriff bodyliner, team t-shirt, and poms. We are looking into purchasing a school set of poms for the competition team, but this will depend on our team funds. We will have several fundraisers this season to cover these costs. If we do not raise enough to buy team poms, we will resort back to the original method of each cheerleader purchasing their own. We will also be attending a cheer gym once a week, which will cost about $6 per girl, per week. Our fundraising will go towards this cost as well.
