2011-2012 Bowling Information
Wednesday, Nov. 2nd – Optional, open practice from 3:30 – 5:00 at Ten Pin Alley. The bowling alleycharges $5. This covers shoes and the bowling. Coach Clute will help as much as he can with instruction. This is an opportunity to get warmed up and used to the lanes before tryouts.
Thursday, Nov. 3rd – Open Practice – same as above
Monday, Nov 7th – TRYOUTS from 3:30 to 5:00 at Ten Pin Alley. Please be sure to get Coach Clute your scores. The $5 fee to the alley still applies.
Wednesday, Nov. 9th – TRYOUTS from 3:30 to 5:00 at Ten Pin Alley – same as above.
Thursday, Nov. 10th – The list of who made the team will be posted on the Athletic Office door. Please stop by to see if you made the team. Our first practice will be held this evening from 3:30 – 5:00 at Ten Pin Alley for those who made the team.
Monday, Nov. 14th – Team Pictures at Darby at 5:00 p.m. in the gym.
Miscellaneous Information
While scores will be the main thing Coach Clute will be looking at, he will also be watching for effort and willingness to learn. Please try to be at both tryouts, but if you can’t, he will do his best to evaluate you in the one day you can make it.
The team will consist of 13-15 students for each team (boys and girls). About half of those will be varsity and half will be JV. Neither team (varsity or JV) will be set in stone.
There is a fee once you are on the team. The final amount has not been determined yet, but it will probably be around around $115. No matter the outcome of the upcoming levy, bowling will NOT have to pay the “pay to participate” fee other sports pay because we receive no funding from the athletic department.
Darby does not provide transportation to practices or matches. Students and parents have been good in the past about helping out with getting the students to and from matches and practices.
