The 8th graders beat Norton 47-28! All members of the team contributed to the great win.  The 8th graders are now 4-0 on the season.

December 15, Heritage Panthers @ Finland

Great wins by both panther basketball teams last night.  The 7th graders beat the Finland Vikings 36-28 led by Alex Salmons, and Brandon Nickel who played tough D and rebounded the ball.

The 8th graders beat the Vikings 37-25 in a dominate team effort.  All 12 members of the 8th grade team contributed to a great win!  The 8th graders are now 5-1 on the season!

January 3, Heritage Panthers @ Jones

The 7th graders lost to Jones last night 50-30.

The 8th graders won a close one 36-33!  All boys contributed to the team and the 8th graders are now 6-1 on the season.  Way to go Panthers!

January 5, Heritage Panthers vs Davis

The 7th graders lost to Davis 42-30 in a hard fought battle

The 8th  started out very slow and were down 14-2 at the end of the 1st quarter.  They played extremely tough and battled back to tie the game towards the end of the 4th quarter.  Unfortunately the 8th graders lost in a heartbreaker 34-32.  Great job to all the 8th graders, and we look forward to getting back on the court again.

Both the 7th and 8th grade beat Memorial last night.  The Heritage crowd was out in force and the place was rocking.  Thanks so much to everyone who came out and cheered on the panthers!
 
The 7th graders won 28-22 in a great game.  Brice, Clark, and Corey all contributed greatly to the win!
 
The 8th graders beat Memorial 41-32, in a complete team effort.  The Panthers played hard for all 4 quarters and really fed off of the great crowd!  The credit goes to the WHOLE team for the victory!

January 17, Heritage Panthers @ Sells

The 7th graders lost 50-22 to Sells last night.

 The 8th graders lost in a close battle last night.  The Panthers tied the game at 33 with 5 seconds left in the game.  Sells scored on a last second prayer to win the game.  Come out Thursday to watch your Panthers maul the Bears of Hastings.

Heritage Panthers vs Marysville – Saturday February 5 – Tournament

The 7th Grade Hilliard Heritage Boy’s Basketball Team lost their final game of the season in the 5th place bracket of the Dublin Invitational Tournament. Marysville defeated the Panthers 30-22 on the strength of an 8-0 run to end the game. Heritage struggled mightily in the fourth quarter scoring only two points, while giving up ten. It was a disappointing end to an otherwise successful season, as the fourth seeded Panthers failed to place in the tournament. Braeden Hook led Heritage with 8 points, Nick Powers added 5, and Richard Gray scored 3. Ethan Ritchey and John Wallace scored two points each while Patrick Snyder and Nathan Skelskey rounded out the scoring with a point each. Heritage bows out with a record of 10 wins against 5 losses.

Heritage Panthers vs Hastings – Thursday February 3 – Tournament

The 8th grade Heritage Panthers Boys Basketball Team finsihed their season last Thursday with their second loss in their Tournament at Weaver Middle School to Hastings by a score of 41-44. The Panthers were down by 14 during the 2nd quarter untill David Dennis hit a deep 3 pointer to end the half. The Panthers battled back to within 5 to finsih the 3rd but were unable to take the lead away from Hastings. David Dennis finsihed with 11, Trevor Cox and Joey Schnieder each had 9, and Jordan Clark had 6.

The Panthers finished the season with a record of 5 wins and 9 losses. They averaged 32 points while their opponents average 33. The Highlight Game of the season was a Home Win against Memorial 44-30. The Panthers also averaged 3.5 3-pointers a game. 13 players scored during the season. The scoring leaders for the panthers were David Dennis with 8 pts a game, Jordan Clark with just under 6 pts a game, and joey Schnieder and Trevor Cox with 3.5 pts a game. Carter Schmidt lead the team in rebounding with 3.5 a game

Heritage Panthers vs Pickerington Lakeview – Thursday February 3 – Tournament

7th Grade Panthers 10 – 4

The fourth-seeded Hilliard Heritage 7th Grade Boy’s Basketball Team fell to fifth-seeded Pickerington Lakeview 31-21 on Thursday night in the second round of the Dublin Invitational Tournament at Davis Middle School. After a Nick Powers three-pointer gave Heritage the early lead, the Panthers surrendered the next 13 points of the contest to fall behind 13-3. Heritage’s struggles continued from that point as they fell further behind, trailing 19-7 at the half. The Panthers continued to battle, outscoring their opponents 14-12 in the second half but the early defecit was too much to overcome, as Heritage saw their chances of continuing on to the final four diminish. Leading the way for Heritage was Nick Powers with 12 points. The Panthers (10-4) will play the loser of Friday’s game between Dublin Karrer and Marysville. The game will be played at 11:30 am. on Saturday morning at Dublin Sells Middle School, with the winner playing on Monday night for 5th place.

Hilliard Panthers vs Groveport – Saturday January 29 – Tournament

8th Grade Panthers 5 – 8

The 8th Grade Boys Basketball Team lost a well fought battle to 4th seeded Groveport 20-22 in their first round tournament game at Weaver on Saturday. The score was tied after the first quarter 6-6, but the panthers struggled offensively in the 2nd and went into half time down 6-13. The Panthers battled back in the 3rd to tie the game at 17 heading into the final quarter. Jordan Clark hit a deep 3 , in the final minute of the game to bring the panthers within two and sent Groveport’s 6’ 7’’ center to the foul line with under 10 seconds in the game. He missed the first Foul Shot but Heritage was unable to get the rebound to gain possession for a chance to win the game and time expired. Carter Schmidt and Jordan Clark each had 6 points. The Panthers will play again on Tuesday at 4:45 against U.A. Hastings in the consolation bracket.

Hilliard Panthers vs Upper Arlington Jones – Saturday January 29 – Dublin Invitational Tournament

The 7th Grade Hilliard Heritage Boys Basketball Team won their first-round game in the Dublin Invitational Tournament on Saturday over Upper Arlington Jones, 35-24. It was the second time this season that Heritage has defeated Jones, the first came at home on January 4th, by a score of 29-20. Nick Powers got the Panthers going early with a running one-handed floater off the glass. Patrick Snyder followed Powers’ effort with an offensive rebound and put back that gave Heritage a 4-0 lead that they would not relinquish the entire game. The Panthers controlled the glass and held their opponenets to 12 points in each half. As has been the case all season, Heritage got contributions from the entire team. Powers led the way with a game and season-high 15 points on 7 made field goals. John Wallace and Braeden Hook added 5 points each. Luke Miller posted 4 points while Snyder, Nathan Skelskey, and Ian Cowen all had 2 points. Fourth-seeded Heritage (10-3) moves onto the elite eight of the tournament, and will play at Dublin Davis Middle School on Tuesday night at 6:30 pm. against fifth-seeded Pickerington Lakeview.

Hilliard Panthers vs Dublin Karrer – Tuesday January 25

7th Grade Panthers 9 – 3

The Hilliard Heritage 7th Grade Boys Basketball team lost their season finale last night at home to Dublin Karrer by a score of 41-33. The Panthers grabbed their only lead of the night at 2-0 on a Nick Powers floater in the lane. The Shamrocks outmuscled the Panthers in the paint and on the glass, as well as causing Panther miscues and turnovers with a swarming press. After trailing 10-2, Heritage chipped away at the lead and played well enough to trail 22-19 halfway through the third quarter. But a final push from Karrer put the game out of reach for the Panthers. Powers scored a team-high 13 points. Patrick Snyder had 8 points while Braeden Hook chipped in two. Lucas Stacy and Alex Jones each hit three-pointers in the final minutes of the game when the Panthers climbed back to cut the defecit to just six points at 39-33 but it wasn’t enough as Heritage lost their only game of the year at home. The Panthers finish the season 6-1 at home and 9-3 overall. The Panthers begin play in the Dublin Invitational Post-Season Tournament as the number 4 seed out of 16 teams. Heritage will play Upper Arlington Jones on Saturday, January 29th at 11:30 am. at Dublin Sells Middle School.

8th Grade Panthers 5 – 7

The 8th Grade Heritage Panthers Basketball Team (5-7) lost its final regular season game last night 37-56 against Dublin Karrer. The Panthers struggled to contain their opponents most of the night going in at half time down 32-11. The Panthers were able score 26 points in the second half but were on able to stop Karrer enough to chip away at the lead. Trevor Cox scored 12 points and Jordan Clark had 10 points and 6 rebounds. The Panthers start tournament play at Weaver on Saturday at noon against 4th seeded Groveport.

The Heritage 7th Grade Boys Basketball team won an exhilarating game at home against Hilliard Memorial 37 to 34. Four quarters of basketball wasn’t enough as the teams battled into overtime, by way of a three-point basket from Memorial with four seconds remaining in the game. The Panthers fought back in overtime after surrendering the first two points of the period. Heritage outscored Memorial 5-2 in overtime with clutch baskets by Nick Powers and Braeden Hook. Powers hit a long three from the right wing that gave the Panthers the lead and Hook had an offensive rebound and put back which pushed the advantage to three. The Panthers rebounded a missed Jaguar three-point attempt to secure the victory. With the win, Heritage improves to 9-2 on the season while going 2-0 against in-city rivals Hilliard Weaver and Hilliard Memorial. Powers led the Panther charge with a team-high 11 points. Patrick Snyder and Luke Miller added seven each, while Hook chipped-in five points. The Heritage scoring was rounded out by John Wallace with three points, and Nathan Skelskey and Ian Cowen with two. Heritage closes out the regular season tonight when they host Dublin Karrer at 5 pm.

8th Grade Panthers 5 – 6

Panthers 44, Memorial 30

The 8th grade Heritage Boys Basketball Team (5-6) defeated Memorial last night 44-30. The Panthers started out strong with a 16-7 first quarter and stayed on the Jags for the second quarter finishing the half with a 29-15 lead. The Panthers continued their great defense in the second half and kept the lead throughout the second half. All Panthers played well and were lead by David Dennis with 13, Trevor Cox with 9, Joey Schnieder with 7 and Jordan Clark with 6. The Panthers finish the regular season against Dublin Karrer at Home tonight.

Heritage Panthers vs Dublin Sells – Tuesday January 18

7th Grade Panthers 8 – 2

The 7th Grade Hilliard Heritage Boys Basketball Team defeated previously unbeaten Dublin Sells at home on Tuesday night, 29 – 26. The Panthers jumped out to an early 10-0 lead behind back-to-back three point bombs from Nathan Skelskey. Dublin Sells fought back in the second quarter, aided by a slew of turnovers from the Panthers, to make the score 12-10 at the half in favor of Heritage. With the score notted at 14 midway through the third, Panther forward Luke Miller hit a step back three-pointer from the corner to give Heritage a lead they would never relinquish. Skelskey and John Wallace burried two free-throws each in the final thirty seconds to secure the victory for the home team. Wallace led the Panther charge with 10 points. Skelskey added a season-high 8 points, while Miller and Nick Powers added 5 and 2 points respectively. Braeden Hook scored four points while pulling down the majority of Sells’ caroms. The Panthers will travel to Upper Arlington to take on Hastings Middle School on Thursday, January 20th. Tip-off is set for 5 pm. with the 8th grade game to follow.

8th Grade Panthers 4 – 6

Panthers 31, Dublin Sells 49

The 8th grade boys basketball team (4-6) lost to a very good Dublin Sells team on Tuesday 49-31. Sells took an early lead in the first quarter with the panthers down 21-7. The panthers played better defense in the 2nd and 3rd quarters scoring 16 and holding their opponents to 13 and cutting the lead to 8 right before the end of the 3rd quarter. Sells went on another run in the fourth and the panthers would not get any closer for the game. Carter Schmidt and Trevor Cox each had 6 points.

Heritage Panthers vs Hilliard Weaver – Thursday January 13

7th Grade Panthers 7 – 2

The 7th Grade Boy’s Basketball Team from Heritage Middle School traveled to rival Hilliard Weaver on Thursday night and came away with a 37 to 30 triumph over the Wildcats. The Panthers never trailed in the contest. Starting point guard and second leading scorer, John Wallace, went down with an injury two minutes into the game, but the Panther reserves were up to the challenge. Most notably, Josh Bauer, who took over the lead guard responsibilities, and played a solid floor game. The Panthers were led by Braeden Hook’s game-high 11 points, including a blistering 7 out of 8 at the line. As a team, the Panthers made 12 of 16 attempts from the charity stripe, good for 75%. Bauer and Nick Powers added 7 points each. Also scoring for the Panthers was Ethan Ritchey with 4 points, Patrick Snyder with 2, and three-pointers from Nathan Skelskey and Lucas Stacy rounded out the Panther scoring. Heritage improves to 7-2 on the season with the win. The team is back in action on Tuesday night at home.

8th Grade Panthers 4 – 5

Panthers 19, Weaver 20

The 8th grade boys basketball team (4-5) lost at Weaver on Thursday the 13th by a score of 31-40. The Panthers played a great first half hitting five 3-pointers and went into the half down1 with a score of 19-20. A rough 3rd quarter for the panthers allowed the Wildcats to go on a 16-0 run and made it very difficult for the panthers to get back into the game. The finished strong in the 4th with a 12-4 run but were unable to chip the lead away early in the quarter. The panthers were lead by Joey Schnieder’s with 14 points, Jordan Clark and Luke Geise each had 6 points, and Carter Schmidt with 5 rebounds. The Panthers will look to get back on track with a tough game at Home on Tuesday against Dublin Sells.

Heritage Panthers vs Davis Middle School – Thursday January 6

7th Grade Panthers 6 – 2

The 7th Grade Hilliard Heritage Boy’s Basketball Team traveled to Dublin Davis Middle School on Thursday, January 6th and lost a hard-fought game against the Irish by a final score of 25-24. The Panthers trailed the majority of the game. Their largest deficit was 18-10 halfway through the third quarter; however a 6-0 run, highlighted by a John Wallace 25-footer at the third quarter buzzer, made the score 18-16 going into the final stanza. Again, the Panthers lost momentum falling behind 25-18 with 40 seconds remaining in the game. Nate Skelskey and Josh Bauers hit back-to-back three pointers to cut the defecit to just one point. A Panther steal with 10 seconds remaining lead to a Nick Powers 12-footer which fell off the rim, offensive rebounds and subsequent shot attempts by Patrick Snyder and Braeden Hook were unsuccessful as the final horn sounded. The Panthers were led in scoring by John Wallace and Nick Powers with 8 points apiece. The loss drops Heritage to 6-2 on the season. Heritage travels to Dublin Grizzel on Tuesday, January 11th.

8th Grade Panthers 4 – 4

The Heritage 8th grade boys basketball team( 4-4) lost a tough battle against Dublin Davis on Thursday by a score of 27-33. The Panthers Played tough but were unable to consistently stop the strong inside game of their opponents. The Panthers were lead by David Dennis with 10 points, Jordan Clark with 5 points and 4 rebounds, and Kenny Hurley with 5 points. The panthers will be back in action Tuesday the 11th at Dublin Grizzell and at Weaver on Thursday the 13th.

The Hilliard Heritage Panthers 7th Grade boy’s basketball team opened up the new year on Tuesday, January 4th with a convincing 29 – 20 victory over visiting Jones Middle School. The Panthers jumped out to a quick 6 – 0 lead early in the first quarter but the Golden Bears battled back to make it an 8 – 8 tie after the first stanza. The Panthers pushed ahead 16 – 10 at the half, and led 23-12 after three quarters. The key to the Panther momentum was their tough defensive play and unwillingness to allow the Golden Bears to feel comfortable on offense throughout the second and third quarters. Nick Powers scored a game-high 12 points on 6 field goals. John Wallace played a strong floor-game and scored 7 points. Josh Bauer provided a spark off the bench with solid ball-handling and 4 points, while Patrick Snyder and Braeden Hook contributed 3 points apiece while also having a major impact on the glass. Heritage also got strong efforts from Nathan Skelskey and Richard Gray off the bench. With the win the Panther improve to 6-1 on the season. The team will be back in action on Thursday, January 6th when they travel to Davis Middle School.

8th Grade Panthers 4 – 3

The 8th Grade Heritage Panthers basketball team (4-3) lost to UA Jones on Tuesday, January 4th by a score of 19-30. The Panthers Struggled offensively in the first 3 quarters only scoring 9 points and giving up 28. They were able to cut in to the lead during the 4th buy out scoring their opponents 10-2. The panthers look to bring more confidence and intensity with them on Thursday as the travel to Dublin Davis Middle School. Carter Schmidt led the Panthers with 6 points and 8 rebounds.

Heritage Panthers vs Finland Middle School – Thursday December 16

7th Grade Panthers 5-1

On Thursday, December 16th, the Hilliard Heritage 7th Grade Boy’s Basketball Team defeated visiting Finland Middle School 47-28. The Panthers took control of the game with a 19 point, third quarter outburst. It was the team’s highest scoring quarter of the season. The Panthers established their inside game early and often, shooting 23 free-throws and making 13. Nick Powers and Braeden Hook led ten Panther scorers in the contest with 11 and 10 points respectively. Powers has now posted back to back 11 point games. Patrick Snyder tallied 8 markers to go along with a perfect four of four from the free-throw line, a feat also matched by Hook. Nathan Skelskey delivered five points and Luke Miller had four. Ethan Ritchey, John Wallace, Alex Jones, and Josh Bauer all scored two points in the contest and Ian Cowen rounded out the Panther total with a free-throw. The Panthers enter the new year with a 5-1 record going into their next game on Tuesday, January 4th at Heritage Middle School.

8th Grade Panthers 4-2

Panthers 35,  Finland MS 33

The 8th grade boys basketball team (4-2) defeated Findland Middle School on Thursday 35-33. The Panthers struggled early to find a rhythm against their opponents 2-3 zone and ended the first half down by 3. In the 2nd half the Panthers stepped up their defensive intensity to create a couple of key turnovers that turned in to transition points and took the lead in the 4th quarter. Carter Schmidt scored all 10 of his points in the 2nd half to help break down the zone. Jordan Clark added 9 points and 7 rebounds. Luke Geise had 6 points and 6 rebounds & Joey Schnieder had 6 points. Thanks to all the fans that have been there to support us the first half of the season

Heritage Panthers vs Marysville – Tuesday December 14, 2010

7th Grade Panthers 4-1

The Hilliard Heritage 7th Grade Boy’s Basketball Team traveled to Marysville on Tuesday, December 14th, and left with their fourth win of the season 37 – 30. The Panthers only trailed once in the game at 2-0, but back-to-back hoops by Braeden Hook gave Heritage a 4-2 lead that they would not relinquish. The Panthers were led by the aggressive play of Nick Powers who scored 9 of his game-high 11 points in the second half. Hook scored 8 points while John Wallace and Patrick Snyder added 7 each. Wallace nailed two three-pointers including a dagger with two minutes left in the game that preceeded a Powers steal and layin, which put the game out of reach for Marysville. Luke Miller and Ethan Ritchey rounded out the Panther scoring with 2 points apiece.

8th Grade Panthers 3-2

The 8th grade boys basketball team (3-2) lost at Marysville on Tuesday by a score of 40 to 18. The Monarchs shot the ball very well in the first half hitting 6, 3-point shots and the Panthers struggled offensively most of the game. David Dennis had 11 points and Jordan Clark had 6.

Heritage Panthers vs Norton Middle School – Thursday December 9, 2010

7th Grade Panthers 3-1

The Hilliard Heritage 7th Grade Boy’s Basketball team defeated Norton Middle School 34-18. With the win, the Panthers improved to 3-1. Heritage was led in scoring by John Wallace, Alex Jones, and Nick Powers with 6 points apiece. Each Panther was able to contribute throughout the game as everyone saw action. The Panthers jumped out to a 10-1 lead after one quarter of play and held a 20-4 advantage at halftime. Heritage’s 7th and 8th grade boy’s basketball teams will travel to Marysville on Tuesday, December 14th to battle the Monarchs. 7th grade is set to tip at 5 pm.

The 8th grade boys basketball team (3-1) defeated Norton Middle School at home 36-9. After a slow offensive start, the Panthers scored 26 points and used great team defense to hold their opponents to 1 point combined for the 2nd & 3rd quarters. Leading the way for Heritage were Jordan Clark with 8 points, David Dennis & Luke Geise with 6 each, and Trevor Cox & Kenny Hurley with 5 a piece. Carter Schmidt & Andy Landers each had 5 rebounds.

Heritage Panthers @ Jackson Middle School – Tuesday December 7, 2010

7th Grade Panthers 2-1

The 7th Grade Hilliard Heritage Boy’s Basketball Team traveled to Jackson Middle School and lost their first game of the season 28-23. The Panthers held an 18-14 advantage at the end of the third quarter but were unable to keep the lead. The Panthers were outscored 14-5 in the decisive fourth quarter. Hilliard was led by John Wallace with 7 points. Patrick Snyder had 5 points, Nick Powers added 4, and the scoring was rounded out by Braeden Hook with 3, Luke Miller with 2, and Ethan Ritchey with 2. With the loss, Hilliard drops to 2-1 on the young season. The Panthers will be in action again on Thursday, December 9th, when they host Norton Middle School at 5:30 pm.

The 8th grade Boys Basketball Team (2-1) lost at Jackson Middle School 42 -33. The Panthers fought hard taking the early lead in the 1st , but were unable to come back from an 11 – 3 run by the Jaguars in the 2nd quarter. Leading the way for the Panthers were David Dennis with 15 pts, Joey Schnieder with 6 pts, and Carter Schmidt with 7 rebounds.

Heritage Panthers vs Brookpark – Thursday December 2, 2010

7th Grade Panthers 2-0

The 7th Grade Boy’s Panther basketball team won their second game in as many trys last night, defeating Brookpark 37-12. After falling behind 6-5, at the end of the first quarter, the Panthers went on a 26-0 run in the second and third quarters. The Panther run was fueled by all 14 players on the roster, as 11 players scored in the game. John Wallace led the Panthers in scoring for the second straight game with 7, Patrick Snyder added 5, Ethan Ritchey and Nick Powers contributed 4 points apiece. 12 points were distributed evenly by Nathan Skelsky, Josh Bauer, Braeden Hook, and Richard Gray. The Panther scoring was rounded out by Joe Esteep, Ian Cowen, and Luke Miller with 2, 2, and 1 point respectively. On Tuesday, December 7th, Hilliard Heritage will travel to Jackson Middle School. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 pm.

On Thursday Dec 3rd, the 8th grade boys basketball team won it’s home opener against Brookpark 38 -13. The Panthers took the lead early and held Brookpark to 3pts for the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Leading the way for the Panthers were Like Geise with 8, David Dennis with 7, and Jordan Clark with 6.

The 7th grade boys team came back from a 28-22 defecit to defeat Pleasantview Middle School 34-31 in the opening game of 2010-2011 season. The Panthers earned their first road victory of the season behind the strong play of John Wallace who had led the team with 10 points. Braeden Hook scored a layup that gave the Panthers a 31-29 lead that they did not relinquish. Patrick Snyder followed up Hook’s layup with an offensive putback and a subsequent free-throw which pushed Heritage’s advantage to 34-29. The driving force behind the Panthers’ victory was a stingy defensive effort in the fourth quarter. Heritage allowed only three points, and no field goals in the decisive final stanza. Snyder had 8 points, Hook 7; Luke Miller contributed 6 points, and Joe Esteep and Nick Powers rounded out the Panther scoring with 2 and 1 points, respectively.

The 8th grade Boys Basketball Team began their season on Tuesday at Pleasant View Middle School. After a slow start down and trailing by 2 entering the 4th quarter, the Panthers took control and went on a 17 to 0 run to finish the game 41-28. Leading the way for the Panthers were David Dennis with 18 along with Jordan Clark and Kenny Hurley netting 6 each.
